Trouble
report 565
Abnormal termination when moving
edge of overlap region after Swing Lens stitch
Versions affected
4.0 - 4.2
Description
This problem only affects panoramas that were stitched with Swing
lens or rotational camera selected for the camera type and with images
that have more than 8 bits per color channel. If you selected
another camera type or if you used images with 8 bits per color channel
(JPG, BMP. 8-bit PNG or 8-bit TIF), you will not encounter this problem.
After stitching with Swing lens or rotational camera selected,
editing or moving the right hand edge of an overlap region causes an
abnormal termination.
This happens only when:
- Automatically blend overlaps (Image menu) is selected
(showing a checkmark alongside the menu item), or
- Automatically blend overlaps is not selected but the left
hand edge of the overlap has not been edited.
Workaround
This workaround is needed only if you stitched
with Swing lens or rotational camera selected for the camera type
and with images that have more than 8 bits per color channel. If you
selected another camera type or if you are using images with 8 bits per
color channel (JPG, BMP. 8-bit PNG or 8-bit TIF), you will not encounter
this problem, so no workaround is required.
To avoid the abnormal termination, you must
turn off Automatically blend overlaps and always edit the left hand
edge of the overlap whenever you edit the right hand edge:
-
When you are ready to edit the overlap region,
make certain that Automatically blend overlaps (Image menu)
is not selected. If there is a checkmark alongside the menu command,
select the command to remove the checkmark.
-
Perform an edit to the left hand edge of the
overlap region. You may make any edit, however small, but you must
change the overlap region. You will know that the edge has been
edited if the overlap region changes from solid line to a dashed line.
The dashed line indicates that the region has been edited with
Automatically blend overlaps not selected.
-
Do the editing of the right hand edge of the
overlap region as you require.
-
Choose the Blend overlaps now command (Image
menu) to blend the overlap without receiving an abnormal termination.
Status
Corrected in V4.3.
