Trouble
report 333
JPE is not recognized as a valid
file type for jpeg images
Versions affected
1.6, 2.0 - 2.4, 3.0 - 3.1
Description
Minolta cameras (Dimage 7Hi in particular) use the .JPE file type for
jpeg images that have embedded color profiles and .JPG for jpeg images
without color profiles. PF does not recognize the .JPE file type. This
should be added to the list of valid file types for jpeg images.
Workaround
There are two workarounds for this problem. Either one will
correct the problem.
- Rename your image files to change the file type from .JPE to .JPG
before importing them into The Panorama Factory. No format
conversion is required -- the .JPE image is in the standard jpeg format
and can be imported by PF after changing the name.
OR
- Do not embed the color profile in the images. This should cause the
camera to save the images with a .JPG file type which will be recognized
by The Panorama Factory. PF does not process the color profile
information, so this should not cause any problems with PF. To turn off
the saving of color profiles, use the "Color profile" item in your
camera's "Custom" setup menu (see p 119 of the Minolta Dimage 7Hi
Instruction Manual).
