Thanks, for the quick response John, and for a Super Program! I have had a go and produced a vertical example, can be seen here. http://www.theswampbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15921 Cheers Sergei |

For a step-by-step instructions for vertical panoramas, refer to the FAQ article Vertical stitching. You'll have to do some of the commands outside the Wizard--the stitching Wizard can do nearly everything except the final rotation.

Greetings Panophyles, As a newbie, this has probably been addressed, so apologies, I have just bought V4.2 and love it! Looking at the great Galleries, I want to do vertical Panos, if I can be pointed to a thread where this is discussed, I'd be very gratefull. PF for ever! P.S. I used to shoot on 6x17cm film. |

I have used PF since version 3. I have wasted much time with other stitching programs. PF is simply awesome. I won't say it will stitch the impossible, but it comes so close that you begin to believe it should. Great work John - & please keep it up. I look forward to easy vertical and matrix stitching in future versions. |

Hello All Just got started in the feild of panorama reality tours - check out what has been accomplished in 6 days - A few glitches to fix and pictures to enhance - but not bad overall. We work with another VT Stitching software offered by a national Virtual Tour Company, but have discovered your software has even them beat. Look forward to working with the Bullseye Features once we learn the techniques. Tried producing VERTICAL Photos today and now have another product to sell as well. Would love to see more info on developing the QTVR capabilities for Products. "GREAT JOB JOHN"

Hi John, Well, this is the third version of your program I have used, and they keep getting better all of the time. I've taken all of these panoramas and never done anything much with them - until now! I put three 19" monitors and two video cards on my system, now I can display my pano's as a background spanning all three monitors! Thinking about putting a fourth one into the mix, but I need another desk... Thanks for a great product and some very worthwhile software. Reed Radcliffe St. Louis, MO USA |

Hi I’ve just had a play with the New Pano Factory demo and it’s fantastic, straightforward and easy to use. However I still need some help choosing the right equipment for the right job. I just recently started taking some panoramas around my home with a Nikon 5700 without any lens adaptor with a standard Manfrotto tripod using a homemade bracket. Unfortunately I’m unable to get very much of my lounge in the image and it looks quite narrow. Please could anybody advise me on which bracket and wide-angle lens to go for (FC-E9 or something less extreme) so I m able to achieve a good panoramic image. Also is this software able to handle fisheye images. Justin

Great program. And great to see it's still being developed so aggressively. Good on 'ya, John!! ;-) I was a tad surprised to see the most excellent descriptions at: http://panoramafactory.com/camera_setup/setup.html as I have found the program to be so forgiving. Here's some hand-held pano's I did a while back: http://raetihi.com/panoramas.html Yes, there's some ghosting - it was was a fast shoot! (hey, I didn't feel too comfortable standing in the middle of the road! ;-) Now I have to go and upgrade to see what new stuff is included... Cheers, MAL ---------- |

I've been VRing for about 5 years now. It was PhotoVista that got me started, and since then I've probably tried at least 10 or 15 stitching packages, including every new release of the much-feted RealViz Stitcher. None of them come even close to Panorama Factory. Your software is simply the most accurate and comprehensive package that I've encountered. The wizard works for 9 out of 10 stitches, and if the VR is especially difficult, you just slip into manual mode and tweak it till it's right. The Competition: RealViz Stitcher is a cumbersome and awkward beast by comparison, and very time consuming. PhotoVista simply gets worse with each new issue, and insists on creating random (and sometimes hard-to-find) stitching errors thanks to its "intelligent" approach. VRWorx, whilst good for creating multi-node scenes, is just a blunt instrument when it comes to stitching, and is exceptionally flaky on PC. Why Panorama Factory isn't the world-standard for VR stitching I don't know. People just don't know about it. Digit magazine in the UK frequently reviews VR packages, with never a mention of PF. At the risk of boring everyone, I'll repeat myself - Panorama Factory is the very best VR stitching package on the market - period. |

Excellent program. You can see one of the assembled panoramas on www.kencarney.com. If I studied the manual I'm sure it would be better, though it is really intuitive. I use a digital camera and a Bessa with 15mm Heliar, and the Kiwi pan head. |

I have to be careful of my language here. This program is hot sh**t good!!! Having wasted shed loads of time with other "panoramic" progs which required loads of user input and produced weird and "wonderful" (?) results, I tried Panorama Factory. A 360 degree roughly taken with a digital camera produced a stunning professional result, I was struggling to see the join! Took a little time to suss out the cropping and produced a quicktime HTML (best after using the wizard for a first try to get to grips with the manual operation). After 6 hours was completely satisfied and bought the software!!

Hi John, Have been with you since v2.4 You have created an awsome product with v3/3.1!! Many thanks. Check out some of my early 360's @ hamilton-island-getaway.com & pano-photo.tv compiled with v2.4 I have just spent 2 weeks at my holiday home on Hamilton Island Great Barrier Reef Australia with v3.1 (yes - I take your product everywhere with me!!) and soon will publish the many pano's I did during that time. I am using Canon G1 with Manfrotto Pano head. 3.0 has now taken me to another level in quality. 3.1 - yippeeeee Many thanks for a great product. Mark Bourne Melbourne Australia |

John, All I can say are good things about your product and the level of support provided for Panorama Factory!!! I've benchmarked over 10 different stitching packages (see the stitching/panorama forum at www.steves-digicams.com). Your product is by far the most intuitive and the one pushing the limits agressively on capability and available technology. I started using Version 2.4 and thought it was one of the best packages. Trying Version 3 was like a quantum leap forward from 2.4. You made the product better and easier to use (love the manual fine tuning and the new stitching wizard). I look forward to continuing to use your product and providing useful feedback in the coming months. Thanks, Rob |

John - great program and a pleasure to register it, just downloading 3.0 now. Tip - I have an Epson 1290 printer and under Win98 couldnt print any larger than 2100 x 11176. That meant I could not scale panorama's up to print on wide (Super A3) roll paper. Epson support offered no help, but have since upgraded to XP and 1290 driver ver 5.2 - page limits are now 3290 x 32707 and can now do huge pano's - ripper. Love the program, keep up the good work.... Barrie (NZ) |

However I have limited income so was very pleased to find the freeware version (1.6) is still available on your very informative website. I've been using other stitcher softwares that I "thought" were good. But, wow!, Panorama Factory beats them all. In over all ability to stitch together some less than perfect digital panoramas and fix exposure errors, no other software does as well. Bravo for a great piece of software. The only thing lacking is control over the QTVR files. Codec, quality, display size, start point, etc. However, I read in your excellent support forum that is coming in version 3. Great! Panorama Factory gets my vote, and will get my $$$ too. You one smart guy, John Strait! ;-) |

Nice program, indeed! I simple love using it. See some results at http://shimaron.furry.de/photos/2001/panorama/ One question I have: You don't seem to support Canon EOS digital SLR cameras at all, which is IMHO a pity. And another thing: Why do you ask for maker/model and focal length used when this information is readily avalailable in the EXIF info? Chris aka Shimaron Greywolf |

All I can say is, "Wow!" I started researching panoramic stitchers a couple of weeks ago, and after trying numerous, including commercial products, there was really no competition -- I immediately registered Panorama Factory, and feel a good kind of "sneaky" like I've stolen a $400 program for $35. Thank you very much for such a wonderful program. We recently remodeled our home, and my extended family has enjoyed following the progress in the "virtual tours" and panoramic pictures that I've posted on our website. You've turned my modestly priced Kodak DX3600 camera into an incredible photography tool. |

I've been using v 2.4 (registered!)for a few weeks. It's absolutely amazing and warmest congratulations are due to John. It's remarkably tolerant even when stitching a pano from "hand held" images. Using an E-10, I don't even have to remember the focal length - PF seems to do it for me! As a photographer for some 50 years I recall the time I spent trying to stitch paper prints together - usually with indifferent results. My son works in a photo dealer and he has one of my pano's in the shop - with due credit to PF of course. I hope some sales result from it. Kind regards John Gruffydd Mold, Wales, UK. |

Robert -IRC in Idaho The program is splendid and is very useful in making the viewers perspective into something nearer what they see personally. We tried it on a photo of a property some 450 feet in length and shot it in sections. After stitching it together into one complete view it gave a wonderful idea of what was there as opposed to many pictures trying to show the same thing. Great program and we thank you for it use we would be glad to subscribe to it anytime. |

Hello John. I’m from Pittsburgh and I wanted to send a few pictured of the first snow fall that we received in 2002 to my best friend that is now in Afghanistan in the Marines. I herd about the panoramic pictures from some of the Software that came with my Olympus Camera. When I loaded the software it would not run on my pc for some reason. So I went to the web and your site was the first one I found. I took a few images from the West End Overlook of the city and the point and you software made it very simple to make a photo that showed Pittsburgh at its best. To marrow I will send my friend the perfect cityscape that your software made possible. You software also made it possible to send a bit of home to our soldiers over seas. Two examples: the pano "Jungfraujoch" was done fully automatic (http://digitalphotocontest.com/photodisplay.asp?cat=7&id=68948&int=13) while one other pano "Aiguilles Vertes" needed many manual corrections (http://digitalphotocontest.com/photodisplay.asp?cat=7&id=64195&int=13). With Panorama Factory it was very easy and a great job to do. This is not a fake ad. I have no business with PF. But Panorama Factory is just the best stitching software in the world and is worth every cent. Thank you, Smoky City Design ! |

In my initial test picture, I stitched 11 pictures of the block I live on together effortlessy and with excellent results. The whole process from taking the pictures to finished panorama took 20 minutes. Thanks for creating the great product. |

I have been taking "Panorama" shots for years, spending a lot of extra time and film, and then trying to paste them together. This will be quite exciting and a wonderful project to see if I can now do them with your software. So far it looks GREAT! |

This program/website was mentioned in the USENET newsgroup "comp.graphics.apps.paint-shop-pro". I can't wait to download it and try it out! That photo of the Matthews building and downtown is great! |

John, I downloaded the Panorama Factory a couple of weeks ago and have been putting it through some tests. With lots of references to your excellent documentation, I'm still getting a feel for when, and when not to perform certain functions. So far I've had very encouraging successes, not only with one dimensional panoramas, but have found it performs just as well when I add a second dimension - by turning the first panoramas on their side and stitching two or three panoramas together. By playing with the focal lengths, I've also used it to stitch together large, flat scanned items, such as maps. I usually don't carry a tripod with me so my photo's can be difficult to stitch together well. But the alignment features provided in the application give me very acceptable results for an amateur photographer. I've even been able to get pleasing results with scenes that have movement - i.e. light crowds, calm sea shores etc. I'll keep working with it and if I come up with something I think you'll find interesting, I'll pass it along. Congratulations for your work on this project. |

Thank you! I am an artist with very large paintings and I can't wait to use your software with images I take with my digital. Although not quite the way you intended, I hope to produce images which will be full page length color printer copies for my portfolio. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will let you know if it works. If it does, you will have helped this "starving artist" immensely. |

I'm not into photography myself. I'm one of those people you make photographs for. I could look all day. Really loved the panoramic views and particularly the 'Faces at the Table' one. That picture should be on the front of Life magazine. Surely I'm not the only one that wants to see the good things going on in this world. Right at the center, hard workin dad giving baby a kiss. Keep up the good work you guys and thanks for sharing with us less talented folks. |

Hello John, I am just downloading Panoramafactory & it will be a few days before I will get to use it. Actually it is very tempting & I will probably push some stuff back to try this. Thanks and I really will keep in touch, |

I publish 24" wide by 4" high Picture cards which are scored in two places to fold the card with the picture inside. A postage stamp seals the picture for mailing. I would like to go back to a 4"x5" format camera, take three images, and stitch them together before the lito process. In the past, the pictures were butted together on the same line as the score line so as to "hide" the imperfect match. I will be delighted to send a sample of my current Golden Gate Bridge card to you. Thanks Phil Stelling. 888 PAN VIEW fax 650 573-1924 |

Hi John. Just downloaded panoramafactory and will be trying very soon. I've been expirementing with other availble software and most work quite well. I've mostly been using the DC265 camera, but do scan with a Nikon 35mm occasionally. It seems most software leaves you out in the cold with reference to what the size of the stiched image is, until transferred to imageing software. Will get back to you soon. I orginally worked with the Fuji 617 doing all the darkroom work myself. Ken Cree |

Very impressive photos -- can't wait to give it a try. I've been stitching digital photos in Photoshop -- it works well but is fairly slow, and it's difficult to correct problems with perspective. |

Bravo ! Bravo ! John, I tip my hat off to you! Thank you for providing such a fine piece of software. I created my first panaramic photo this morning in as little as 5-7 minutes.. Untouched. Unbelievable results !!! Al Rivera Philadelphia, PA |

The program is easy to use AS LONG AS I follow the instruction step by step. I have read about some users compalining this program is too complicated/difficult to use. I guess that they probably never bother to go to the step-by-step instruction webpage. Without reading the instructions, and 'fine tune' the image, the initial result is not good at all. That is probably some impatient users gave up right there. Anyway, thank you very much for proividing such a beautiful panoranma tools. Keep up the good work. |

Nice site. I'm looking forward to trying your software after my trip to Washington state and Alaska this spring. I'll be using both 35mm and digital cameras and expect to have some vistas of Lake Chelan, Olympic penisula and Alaska. If I have any success you will certainly see copies submitted. Thanks |

Looking at the gallery images reminds me of what I enjoyed about panorama photography in the '70s with my Widelux: the ultra wide aspect ratio of the images. To me, the "VR" approach to panoramas is like looking at the world from inside a cardboard box. The ultra wide aspect ratio and sharpness of the gallery images much better approximates actual vision, where the eyes do the scanning, not the mouse. I can't tolerate VR panoramas more than a moment, but these pictures I can study in detail and from afar. Especially enjoyed the panorama within a panorama reflected in the building windows. Very witty. |

I've tried both Quickstich (it shipped with my Olympus 2020Z) and the Photovista trial and thought the results were good. Panorama Factory easily beat both and has earned a permanent place of honor on my PC. I've already completed two panoramas since downloading the software, with more on the way. |

By Richard J. Almy PhD on Saturday, February 26, 2000 - 02:45pm Hello John, I'm a retired science educator/biochemist and need a new challange after 10 years of retirement. I've used two other stitchers with some luck. Found yours via the net. I'll give it a try and keep in touch. Thanks a lot. |

Hi John, I was very glad to find a program with all this functionallity just for free on the web. I'm downloading it now and will use it to make foto's on our scouting-website, to give it an extra glance. Keep up the good work, I'll let you know when things get published. |

John, as an avid amature photographer (digital)I want to thank you for developing a super software program (V1.6). All the commands, options and adjustments work great!. I am excited now as I have a choice of doing the stitching auto or manual. Remember, if it an't broken don't fix it---it an't broken! |

Very simple to use, exposure compensation was spot on. Blending was smooth and acurate. Minor ghosting on treeline photos. Dealt with water ripple on the lake over an 11 shot stitch pan perfectly. Great program at a great price. |

Panorama Factory is a great program. I tried a panorama at my mother & fathers house that completely failed with Quickstitch 2.0. The autostitch algorithm could not handle their patterned sofa at all I guess. The whole image was ghosts from pictures 2 and 3 away. I kept on trying, but no luck. I then tried your Panorama Factory, and voila, excellent panorama on the first try. I did a little fine tuning, and it was perfect. I should have tried Panorama Factory first I guess. |

An excellent means to extend (literally) your photography. The ability to set the amount of sharpening is a feature missing from many dedicated image processing software packages. |

"Bravo" for this very exiting software The stitch tries I've made seems to be really better than the Photovista software I used. Less blurry and more sharp. I have to re-stitch all my panos... Thank's again and I prepare a wishlist about the next version Christophe Glaudel I also appreciate the interface of your Guestbook that reminds me the Live picture Developper support "forum". Don't you??? |
