I have a pretty simple 2 photo stitch, and when I place the stitch points using semi automatic both photos rotate quite a bit, and the final output is not usable because it rotated quite far and been cropped, is there a way to either straighten them, or perhaps not have PF crop the image at output so I can straighten it myself afterwards? I've tried using both perspective and cylindrical. |

If your photos were handheld, it's possible that the rotation angles of the two photos are actually somewhat different. Semi-automatic stitching assumes that the angles must be the same (a tripod should be used for semi-automatic stitching). In this situation, when it tries to find the best match, it may need to rotate the images by what seems to be an inappropriate amount.
I can't say this with certainty without trying to stitch your photos myself.
Fortunately, I think I can give you a solution even without seeing the photos.
I recommend you switch to manual stitching. This may, by itself, solve your problem. In manual stitching, the rotation angles for the photos can be different, and the software may find a good solution with much less rotation.
But if there is still too much rotation, manual stitching will permit you to correct the rotation. Please refer to the help page Wizard step 7/9 - Preview at low resolution to learn how to correct image rotation in manual stitching.
In general, if you're having trouble getting a good result with a particular stitching method, you should try switching to the next method. In other words, if fully automatic stitching doesn't give good results, try semi-automatic. If semi-automatic stitching doesn't work, try manual.

John, in several spots in this Forum you ask people to send you their pics. WELL, would it be possible for you to show us a couple (few, half dozen) eg's of pics which are on the borderline of being successfully stitched, so we could get an idea if our pics can ever be successfully stitched? If we could look at a couple of image-sets that were *just* successfully stitchable, and a couple sets that were *just NOT* stitchable?
Or are there just too many ways that things can go wrong with the original images, and it doesn't make sense to show a few eg's? I'm just thinking that if uses could see some original pics that are "too bad to stitch" we would know our "minimum" level of quality for the originals.
(Maybe users, like me, could submit orignials that turned out to be unstitchable, at least with a pleasing outcome!)
