I wish to make, for my personal use, printed inserts for CD's from LP Covers. The covers cannot be fully scanned in a conventional scanner. I wish to scan left and right side images and then stitch them together. I have found this impractical with "QuickStitch" as it refuses to join mages with a differnt size, and it is not always easy to crop scanned mages of exactly equal size.
How would "Panorama" handle this problem?

The Panorama Factory also requires images to be the same size. However, it provides a trimming tool to help you achieve this.
Follow these instructions to trim your images:
Run the Trimming properties dialog (Tools menu). Select the Fixed-size rectangle radio button. Enter the width and height of the smallest image. Then trim each image to the specified size:
1. Double-click each imported image in turn.
2. You'll see a large red rectangle on the image. This is the trimming rectangle. Its size is what you entered on the Trimming properties dialog.
3. Move the trimming rectangle to include the part of the image you want to keep.
4. Use the Approve command (Image menu, right-click menu or green checkmark on the toolbar) to trim the image.
5. Move to the next imported image with ALT+Arrow Key or by returning to the imported image thumbnails with the Show imported images command (View menu) or the toolbar button showing little thumbnails.
You will also need to disable the image warping to stitch flat scanned images like these. You disable the image warping (curve distortion) by selecting Swing lens or rotational camera on the Camera properties dialog (Tools menu).
This method works well to stitch a row of flatbed scans into a larger image.
The Panorama Factory does not directly support mosaic stitching (two-dimensional array of images), but you can use it to stitch the individual image rows, save these images, and then use it again to stitch the rows together into a large image.

You use the Stitch command (New image menu) to stitch a set of images together.
By default, The Panorama Factory will attempt to stitch all of the computed thumbnails. If there are no computed images, The Panorama Factory will attempt to stitch all of the imported thumbnails. If you wish stitch a subset of the images, you should select the thumbnail images you want to stitch.
You can select a single thumbnail by single-clicking it. If you hold the SHIFT key while clicking, you extend the selection so that a set of adjacent images is selected. If you hold the CTRL key while clicking you toggle the selection of a single image, changing it from unselected to selected or vice versa.
If the images are in the wrong order, you can drag a set of selected images to move them to a different position in the thumbnails list. |

My purpose is to stitch together scanned images of maps that are too large to fit in my scanner in one pass. I have tested this, and I have also tested stitching by taking one large image and separating it into two overlapping parts, one of them rotated slightly.
I find that I do not get a good match at all. I have set my "camera" to "Swing Lens or rotational camera" as recommended, but it does not help. I hope that there is something simple I have overlooked - The Panorama Factory is so easy to use, and I feel it must be able to do a stitch that only involves translation and in-plane rotation, with no warping. |

You wrote that one of your images is slightly rotated. The Panorama Factory does not perform automatic rotation as part of the stitching process. This probably explains why you are not getting a good match.
Fortunately, you can use the Rotate command (New image menu) to rotate the images before stitching. For more information, see the FAQ Small amount of rotation.

the function you are really look for is array, not stitch under the new image menu. you choose whether its horizontal or vertical and take each row or column in turn and 'array' them together. No exact size matching required on this function. |

how can i put the company logo and a small text (the date and time for instance) to the panorama in one corner?
The source pictures of course can have such information but by stitching it leads to a desastrous result.
i know the software can do it. i have seen it in the final picture before buying. there was your webaddress centered in the picture. i want it in a corner and not so large. |

The watermarking in The Panorama Factory is a special purpose function designed to support the "try before you buy" software distribution method. It can add only the specific image graphic that you saw before you purchased the software and does not have general purpose logo and/or text capability or the ability to position the image.
It would be best to add your information to the panorama after stitching using a general purpose image editing program. There are many image editing programs available from other companies that have this capability.
