I am having troubles creating virtual 360 tours.
First off I create a 360 degree photo using Panorama Factory. Second, I choose “save final image”. Third, under the web page box I choose "create new webpage from template". I leave the template as default for I am only trying to successfully create a test tour at this time. I save the image on my hard drive and Internet Explorer 7 opens up to show me the final product. Basically I do exactly what the online user manual says to do. I followed the instructions in the manual step by step.
Internet Explorer will display the image in its original panorama status however it does not open in Quick Time as a 360 degree tour. It’s just a simple image in the window, nothing else.
So my question is:
How can I get Panorama Factory to generate the code necessary to create a real 360 degree tour like those listed in the link below?

So all in all Panorama Factory isn’t really doing anything. It’s just imbedding an image in a webpage and that’s all.

To create a QuickTime movie, you also need to select QTVR (*.mov) in the Save as type drop down box on the Save image dialog box. From your message, it sounds as though you may have skipped this step.

Ah that’s exactly what I am looking for, thanks.
However now a new problem exists. Obviously in order to create a 360 degree picture the photographer needs to take many pictures, as many as 30. In my specific case I needed to take 17. So I use the program to stitch them together in the spherical or cylindrical 360 degree projection mode. The program has no problem doing this. However when I save the photo in the QTVR format I get an error that simply says "Out of Memory", and the program crashes. I opened up my task manager to see what is going on and I noticed that as soon as I try to save the file in the QTVR format the program's memory usage skyrockets from a few hundred MB to anywhere between 600 MB and 1 GB. However none the less I still have over 1.5 GB of RAM free so the computer is not out of memory. When I create the image in the perspective 360 degree projection mode I get the error “The panoramic image composition was altered. Cannot convert to QTVR”.
If I try to create a 360 degree movie with only 10 picture instead, the program has no problem doing this. However at 17 photos I get that error. The program can create a 360 degree photo out of 17 photos and I can save a .jpg of the photo with no problem but if I try to save it in the QTVR format I get an error.
So in summary,
- 17 photos, spherical or cylindrical 360 degree projection mode = “out of memory” error, program crashes.
- 17 photos, perspective 360 degree projection mode = “The panoramic image composition was altered. Cannot convert to QTVR” error, program does not crash but it wont create a QTVR.
- 10 photos in any mode = program can successfully create a QTVR.
Now I am fairly sure I am not exceeding the maximum photos the program can create a QTVR with because 17 photos is pretty much the absolute minimal amount of photos a photographer with a non-telephonic lenses can stitch together to create a real 360 degree photo. You simply can’t do it with less.

I am using an elite custom built computer designed for very high performance usage and it’s very capable of handling this program. I have 1500 - 2000 MB of free RAM when I get this error. The sum of all 17 pictures is 81.5 MB. My paging file is set to 4092 MB. I am using XP Home SP3 32 bit with 4 GB of RAM (2.7 recognized by Windows).
The pictures are 3888 x 2592 with 72 DPI vertical and horizontal resolution with 24 bit depth. I have read the FAQ about this issue. I cannot increase my program memory maximum allocation size from 2 GB to 3 GB because I cannot find boot.ini. I am viewing hiden files and folders. Its not in C:/ and Windows search only turns up one back copy of it. However I think that will not help because the program is only using 600 - 1000 MB of RAM at the time the program crashes as per the task manager.

The only file that turns up in a Windows search of boot.ini is boot.ini.backup. Msconfig does not have a /3gb box to check to add to boot.ini.
Also some random info I noticed that may be useful:
Well the program is stitching the pictures to create the final picture the program uses anywhere between 150 and 1000 MB of RAM. When the program is done stitching the photos, the RAM usage is stuck at the maximum amount of RAM the program used well stitching (between 500 - 1000 MB, the amount seems to vary randomly). As soon as I minimize the program the usage drops to 3 MB. When I maximize the program the RAM usage increases to 17 MB.
From the point where I open the program to the point where the program crashes the memory usage of the program is never over 1000 MB according to the task manager so it appears the program is nowhere close to reaching the 2 GB max aloud by Windows.
Additional info:
When the program crashes when I get the "out of memory" error, it appears the program makes a back-up copy of the image. When I reopen the program it asks me if I want to restore the last image. When I click yes the RAM usage jumps from 22 MB to exactly 1,018,832 KB. However when I minimize the program the RAM usage once again drops to 4 MB and when I maximize it the usage once again jumps to about 25 MB.
So at no time, during no operation, have I ever observed the program using more than 1 GB of RAM. The RAM usage when I get the “out of memory” error varies from 1 GB in some cases to 35 MB. Also note that I only get this error when saving in the QTVR format. If this sounds overly complicated I can make a video of the desktop from start to finish showing you.
Also, the picture size does seem to be the issue. If I compress those 81.5 MB worth of pictures into a super small 2.24 MB (total for all 17 pictures), the program has absolutely no problem creating a QTVR format.
