I'm trying to make a vertual tour, so that by clicking a region you are taken to the right page, with the QTVR file facing in the right direction. The links and QTVR work fine, however, I am unable to play bookmarks on my page, the button is always faded see; http://www.darkflame.co.uk/temppics/notspot.jpg As I cant place a bookmark, I naturaly cant link to them. I could make other hotspots bookmarks, but I dont wish to have clickable areas for no reason. It would confuse navigation. (its already bad using hyperlinks cursor rather then the nice forward-arrow cursor) I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I tried searching for an existing answer, but the search only flagged one result for 'bookmark' O_o |

Hi Thomas, This is a fine place to ask the question! I don't know why the "bookmark" type hotspot (the flag symbol) is disabled. I will have to investigate that further. However, I can give you a workaround. But before I give you the workaround, I want to ramble on about a few things. Please be patient, the workaround comes at the end of this post! I think there may be some other problems in hotspot processing other than the one you raised. Before writing this reply, I tried some things in The Panorama Factory using Internet Explorer and Firefox. Strangely, a few things that have worked in the past no longer work the way I expected them to. And, of course, IE and Firefox behave differently from each other! I don't know if this is because something changed in the browsers, in the QuickTime viewer or in The Panorama Factory. Unfortunately, I only have control over The Panorama Factory and I can't do anything about the others. For example, the hyperlinks cursor seems to be outside my control. The timing of your question is very good. I am working on an update of The Panorama Factory that will correct some other problems in QTVR support. So this is a great time to sort out problems with QTVR hotspots too. I hope you're willing to work with me on this. If possible, I'd like to solve your issues with QTVR virtual tours in the update release. It may be better / faster to communicate through support@panoramafactory.com rather than here in the forum so that we can exchange email messages and attachments, etc. If you agree, please email me at that address. WORKAROUND The workaround is really simple. You mentioned that you could mark other hotspots (rectangles, circles, etc) as bookmarks, but you don't want extraneous clickable regions. Not to worry! If you leave the URL, Bookmark and Target fields blank on the Hotspot properties dialog box and then select "This hotspot is also a bookmark", it will not be written to the QTVR as a hotspot. It will function as a bookmark but not as a hotspot. So there will not be any extraneous clickable regions. And the advantage to using a rectangle hotspot for the bookmark is that you can control the initial zoom by the size of the rectangle. Give this a try and see if it works for you. CAVEAT As I wrote earlier, I encountered some other problems while testing this. I found, for example, that my test hotspots always opened new browser windows when I tested with Internet Explorer using local files. However, when I used Internet Explorer with web pages on a web server, it worked properly. And Internet Explorer doesn't seem to pass the "#bookmark" notation to the new web page. (?) I will work on these problems for the update release. And I would be grateful if you would continue working on your virtual tour and let me know about any difficulties you encounter. I'd like to fix as much as possible before the update release.
