I have two panoramas of the same spot, one at night and one in the day.
I know that it's possible to have an alternate View State on a QTVR object. (Click on the object, and a different track is played.)
Is it possible to do the same with a panorama?
I'd like to toggle between the day and night panoramas based on a mouse/key click.

Hi ! Nice Shot !
Maybe you can do a hotspot covering the whole picture, so when you click you get the other image. But the view angle will be the default, and not the same as the previous picture

Thanks for the compliment! I didn't have a tripod, I just set the camera on the ledge and hoped for the best. Exposure time was 4-8 seconds per shot for the night photo. I was very happy with the results.
The picture was taken from the balcony of Hotel Al Ponte Antico on the Grand Canal in Venice. One night at the hotel was expensive, but these pictures made it worth the extra cost. 
That's a good idea about using a full screen hotspot. Unfortunately, Panorama Factory doesn't seem to support hotspots?
I'm stuck on the PC, so my QTVR editing choices seem pretty limited. Do you know of any good apps? (That don't cost several hundred dollars.

PF does support Hotspot. Open your stitched picture and go to 'Image' and select 'Hotspot'. Define a rectangular zone covering the whole picture and link it to the opposite(night/day) picture. |

Thanks for mentioning the hotspot support. While researching my original question, I'd run across a comment about PF not supporting a specific type of hotspot and got confused.
The best solution I've found thus far is a script that swaps out the images based on MouseOver. (No panning, no zooming.)

Nice effect.
I tought you wanted to do that on a quicktime VR picture (that's why I spoke about view angle).
I saw something similar on a 3D website, showing full render, and on mouse over showing wireframe pciture. |

I had wanted to do it in a single QTVR, but this is the best I've come up with yet.
I tried the hotspot technique, but it ends up opening a new web page when I click on it. I could probably kludge a fix for that, but I'm seeing that the QTVR Panorama just might not be able to do what I wanted.
I knew that QTVR Objects supported alternate states and I was hoping that panoramas did too, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hi Erik,
To test these images with DevalVR player only open the player, select the to files and drag and drop into the viewer window. I see that your images have less than 360 degrees. DevalVR does not support partial panoramas yet, I must add this feature.

I was unable to get it to work with image widths of 4096 pixels and larger. |

You use progressive Jpeg files, this type of Jpeg files aren't supported. Try to create your file without progressive compression.

Thanks! Actually, I just got really lucky with these shots.
We only had one night in Venice, so we spent a 'little' more for a hotel on the Grand Canal. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hotel+al+ponte+antico&sll=45.438397,12.33615&sspn=0.002725,0.007167&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=18&iwloc=0&om=1)
This picture was taken from the hotel's breakfast room balcony. (Our room had a view of a brick wall. But, what more did I expect for €180/night. ;)
I didn't even use a tripod. I just set the camera down on the edge of the balcony and took a series of eight shots with my Canon S2. (Six seconds/frame for the night shots.) The next morning, I got up and took another series from the same spot.
I was really happy with the results. Panorama Factory did a great job stitching them together.

I did a first attempt to support partial panoramas with DevalVR. You can download latest viewer http://www.devalvr.com/paginas/productos/index.html
You must create a new TXT file and write:

zoom=1.5;

}
ZOOM and ROT instructions are optional to set the initial view.
Open this TXT file with the player or set this file in SRC parameter in the HTML code.
You can define a timelapse panorama with this script:

"files" parameter is not required, you must open the TXT file directly. For better compatibility, you can rename these TXT files to .dvl (these files are named DevalVR scripts)

I apologize for the delay in replying. I tested it out over the weekend, and had varied results.
The first image I tried worked perfectly:

Notice that the DevalVR viewer has not trouble reading the images if you just open them up. Only one of the .dvl files seems to work.
Also, I haven't tried the TIMELAPSE option, since I couldn't get the Venice image to work. (It's the only image pair that matches up so closely.)

what program do you use to create TXT files? You must use a plain text editor as Notepad.
I see a lot of garbage in your second and third script. It works if you write only:

I thought I saved the file in plain text, but didn't see the garbage until I opened it in Notepad....
... And, it looks like I finally got the Mime-type set correctly, too! |
