I made my first 360x180 panorama, and I have a problem at the top & bottom. When converting my panorama to cube, there is an abnormal distortion at top & bottom (see bottom picture 01). I have to add a border to the picture to correct the problem (picture 02): As if panorama factory distorted the picture and the 7200x3600 picture was too height ; for the corrected picture, i added white stips borders sothat the picture was 7200x3800, and then stretched it back to 7200x3600. Any suggestions ? Regards, Olivier.

Was the stitched image from The Panorama Factory exactly 7200 x 3600 or did you do some processing to make it that size? For example, did you specify both width and height on without maintaining the aspect ratio? It would be very unusual for the picture to come out exactly 7200 x 3600 after stitching. Padding the picture on the top and bottom to reach the 2:1 ratio is a normal thing to do. The Panorama Factory's own export filter for PTViewer does this automatically. We are adding cubic conversion to the next major release of The Panorama Factory (V5) and it will also do this padding automatically. If this doesn't help explain what's going on, I'll probably need to take a look at your stitching project (.PFP file) and your original image files. Since this will be a VERY large data transfer, please contact support @ panoramafactory.com before sending the files. |

Hi John, Thnx for so quick reply. It is a stitch from 5 rows. I think I followed the tutorial (except replacing resize 7600 in place of 3800, and cropping back to 7200 in place of 3600) by stiching 1 row at a time, then joining them together. I will contact the support to send the files on tuesday. What could also be nice in V5 is a tool for adding top & bottom pictures of the cube (with distortion, color correction, etc...), because color correspondance in photoshop is very difficult to do with ugly result (speaking for me!), and compared how PF can combine a very dark with very light picture giving incredible good results, as you will see in the sources. I've received an email from John, who told me that there was a problem in my panorama because I mixed cylindrical rows with spherical ones, and because I didn't shot the multi-rows symetrically above and below the central row. Further explanations will be send by John later. Panorama factory doest not seem to be the cause of the problem, but a bad use of it (I'm confused). In only 2 days, he pointed out the mistakes I did when shooting & assembling a panorama. That's really a nice technical support.
