Hi,
I picked up PF a few days ago and thus far it's been a pleasure to use. It might not have all the features - such as vertical / mosaic stitching - but its very solid and the results have been very pleasing.
I've been also experimenting with various methods for stitching scanned documents / large images together.
Where there is enough overlap and the scans are uncropped (i.e. the same size) then even going with full automation can work very well, such as on an A3 document which can be scanned in 3 passes. So much faster than using an editor to do the same.
Where there is no or minimal overlap, it seems the only way to do this is via Manual mode in the Wizard. It seems odd that in Classic mode I can't find a way to get to the Stitch step make manual adjustments, sliding the documents into place. Maybe I've overlooked something?

Yes, it is possible to adjust the image-to-image alignment after you finish stitching (whether you use Classic stitching or the Wizard).
To adjust the alignment, you begin by double-clicking the thumbnail for the "Stitched" image. (If you use the Wizard, you have to exit the Wizard by clicking the "Done" button first.) Then open the overlap region that is misaligned. Once the overlap is open, you can adjust the alignment, adjust the focal length and barrel correction (only for Classic), manually fine tune the alignment and/or adjust the brightness falloff correction.
You can also edit the boundaries of the blending regions between images. This can be helpful sometimes to fix a ghost image (e.g. a car or person that moves between one image and the next).

John - thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I've got a fair bit of material to scan in today so I'll experiment a bit more and see how I go.
Vertical / mosaic stitching has been requested here a few times before. Any plans for this feature to be included in PF in the next few months?
