I created a panoramic image using another software application. I would like to use The Panorama Factory to publish this image as a VR (PTViewer, QuickTime, etc). The "stitch" command in PF tells me I need at least two images. Is there a way to import a single rectangular JPEG and then save as a VR? |

Yes, you can import a panorama created with another software application and then save it as a VR. In order to this this, you'll need to know two pieces of information about your panoramic image.
- You need to know whether the image is cylindrical or spherical (equirectangular). If the software used to create the panorama does not provide a choice of formats, you may need to consult its documentation to determine which type of image it creates.
- You need to know the HFOV (horizontal field of view) of the panorama. This is easy for a full 360 panorama, but if it is a partial panorama, you'll need to get this information from the software used to create the panorama.
Once you have this information, follow these steps to import your image and then save as VR:
1. Start The Panorama Factory and dismiss the Wizard. You'll be using menu commands (the Classic interface).
2. Import the panorama into The Panorama Factory with the Import command (File menu).
3. Double-click the imported thumbnail to make it the current image. Right-click the image and select the Properties command (as in step 3). Select "This is a panoramic image"; enter the HFOV value; and select either Spherical or Cylindrical. The VFOV value will be computed automatically.
4. Apply the Resize command (New image menu) if you want to specify a different image size.
5. Double-click the thumbnail for the final image and use the Save as command (File menu) to save the image to your chosen format (QTVR, PTViewer, etc).
