While testing the translated sentance John added for the help button on the toolbar line 57669 (for RC2), I noticed that when it's pressed, the status line prompt is not translated, and that we can't translate within the string file.

This prompt is shown after pressing the context button on the toolbar (blue question mark with black arrow), but before selecting the object for context help.
This prompt string was not in the string table because it is supplied by MFC, not by my application. But these strings can be added to the string table anyway. There is a trick to finding the string numbers for these strings.
When you select your string table on the Options dialog, hold down the ALT key while clicking the name of your string table. Then click OK. This causes The Panorama Factory to show string numbers. See Loading your string table.
The status line string Thibault refers to would be added to the English string table as:
57346 "msg~Select an object on which to get help"
Let's insert this immediately below string 57345.
By the way, don't forget to remove "msg~" when you translate this string. Although the String table syntax page indicates that these special codes are automatically removed by The Panorama Factory, this is not the case. I need to correct the documentation. |
