Hello John, Working with Panorama Factory v2.3 brought me to another suggestion which might improve fine tune mechanism. In this present version of P.F. fine tune tiles are compensating just for horizontal and vertical offset to match overlapping patterns. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) What often remains is a residual rotating error in every tile caused by angle difference of overlapping patterns. Especially with cushion- or barrel distorted optics this remains a problem. It might be relatively easy to add an extra fine tune step to correct this rotation error separately in every tile right after x-y offset is completed. Now I have to use very small tiles to get a similar effect, but minimum tile size is limited by the offset required to compensate x-y errors. Small tiles are time consuming and are sometimes mis-aligned because of errors larger than the tile itself. With such extra rotating adjustment step I'm sure much larger tiles could be used with fine tuning for the same result. Probably this could make the fine tune step perform better while using the same algorithm for pattern matching. Maybe an option to consider in future versions (?) With kind regards, Jan Koopstra The Netherlands |
