I've been a very longtime user of PF, though I stuck with V4 due to V5 not working in Wine, at least initially. But I wonder what's up with PF these days? Is a new release in the works, with new features? How about having a blog with RSS feed to announce new developments, if they are coming?

I still use PF a fair amount but I have to admit I have been seduced to using one of the SIFT based packages for a lot of my panos. SIFT is amazing, and aligns complex multi-row handheld panos in seconds, dealing with duplicates, spurious images and images of different focal length, rotation and tilt.

I won't name the package I am using because this is the PF forum, but they've also done some cool things like blending the pano in the graphics card so you can edit it in real time.

However, PF still has two very strong features that make it the only package for some panos. One is fine tune, and the other is the ability to hand-draw the blend lines. When the other package fails, it's harder to make it right, so I turn to PF -- but only a fraction of the time these days, and not at all on handheld and multi-rows, which PF can do but only with a great deal of jumping through hoops.

I would love to get a package that combines the best of both worlds. The automatic and quick alignment of SIFT on handhelds and multi-rows, the real time editing in the graphics card, the lack of need to store intermediate files but still regenerate panos quickly with the sharp blends from fine tuning, and the ability to quickly move blend lines to deal with moving objects and other issues.

Is this of interest for the future of PF? If not, what is in store?

(I realize this is not really right on topic for the Linux area but I could not identify which section of the forum it does fit, and I use PF under linux)
