I am only able to get the low rez preview (step 7)when i choose semi-auto stitching from the wizard, and according to the help file this step (step 7) also has a handy-dandy warp grid for making vertical lines truly vertical.
However, I cannot access this grid at all and I'd really like to use it.
Don't tell me I can only get it by doing manual stitching please. |

Unfortunately, the warping grid is available only in manual photo stitching, not semi-auto. I think the help says that, but if it's not clear about it, I apologize.
Fortunately, you may be able to use manual mode without any more effort than semi-auto. A little-known feature is that you don't actually need to place stitching points on all image pairs in manual stitching. Just place points on one pair (like semi-auto) and then click the Next button. When you confirm that you want to advance to the next Wizard step, you'll be prompted with a message box asking whether you want to advance with incomplete stitching points. Click Yes.
This forces The Panorama Factory to use automatic alignment on the images that have no stitching points. If you have a stitch that works with semi-auto and meets its rules (on a tripod, no variation in image rotation), then manual stitching used this way should produce nearly the same result. And you'll have access to the warping grid.
Just be sure to place stitching points on at least one image pair. Like semi-auto, manual stitching mode will prevent you from advancing until at least one image pair has been solved.
Try it and let me know!

Yes, works perfectly!
Is there any reason this option is omitted from fully auto and semi auto stitching? I think it would be a great option to have.
or even just an after completion option if the image is a little skewed.

I'll explain my reasoning, but I don't expect it to convince you. ;-)
If you follow the recommendations, the results should be close to perfect. Fully automatic stitching is appropriate if you used a tripod and kept the camera level. Semi-automatic stitching is appropriate if you used a tripod but (possiblly) tilted the camera. Under these conditions, the final image shouldn't be even a little skewed. But if it is, then fully manual stitching is the best way to get an optimal result.
OK, so that said, I have also thought that the warping grid could be useful even for automatic and semi-automatic stitching. I have considered trying to make it available for those stitching methods, but I haven't tried to figure out how much work it would be. Perhaps it might be possible in a future release, but I'm not promising anything right now. |

Oh ok...
Well this is the first time I've ever even needed the grid - all my shots are using a tripod, and none have ever had this problem..
I'm not sure what I did, I thought it was level.. Maybe not.
In the meantime, maybe mention in the help file that step 7 (low res preview) is only available in semi and manual stitching, and that the grid is only available in fully manual stitching...
