I use an Olympus E-10 digital camera. It is not available in the list of camera models when I select Olympus. What should I do?

The Olympus E-10 is new enough that it is not available in the list of cameras shown on Wizard Step 2 or on the Camera properties dialog (Tools menu). It will be added in the next release (V2.4), but until then, and for other cameras missing from the list, you can follow the procedure described in this FAQ.

If your digital camera is not available, leave the Make and/or Model blank and enter the 35mm equivalent focal length into the focal length text entry field. If you are unfamiliar with the term "35mm equivalent focal length," please read What is '35mm equivalent focal length?'.

The Olympus E-10 has a zoom lens, so its focal length covers a range from wide angle (smallest focal length) to telephoto (largest focal length). The 35mm equivalent focal length range of the Olympus E-10 is 35mm (wide angle) to 140mm (telephoto).

Panoramas are often made at the wide angle setting, so you may get best results by entering 35mm as a starting value for the focal length. However, if you zoomed the lens, you may have to guess a more appropriate starting value. In either case, it is usually best to allow The Panorama Factory to refine the focal length while stitching.

I just started using a Nikon D100. Will you be adding this camera to the list of camera models your software supports? Should an adjustment be made for the focal length multiplier?

Although the camera library in the V2.4 release of The Panorama Factory does not support digital SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses, several workarounds are available. See Support for digital SLR?.

The Casio EXILIM M2 will be added in the next release (V3.2). Until then, please use the method described in my posting from September 19, 2001 (above).

The HP 850 Photosmart doesn't appear in the list of cameras, in fact no HP cameras appear. Any suggestions on what to do about this omission?

I'm puzzled by your statement that no HP cameras appear in the list. V3.3 lists more than 20 HP cameras, including the Photosmart 850.

Perhaps you are have selected "Digital SLR" for the camera type instead of "Digital camera". All of HP's cameras are point-and-shoot cameras listed under the camera type "Digital camera".

If you selected "Digital SLR," you will not see any HP cameras because HP does not make any digital SLR cameras.

I hope this helps!

Robert -

Hopefully we will see some response from John. As I see you have posted in the other thread you are aware that there has not been an update for a while. Several of us are moving on to other things, but still holding out hope that more updates will come for PF.

Not having a Coolpix, I am not sure what to suggest as a work around.

Personally I have been began to use Microsoft ICE. Works very easily and is free, but does not have the deliberate fine control that PF does.

Come back to us John!

David

Yes, I hope there is a response. I recently paid for an updated version of the software in hopes of getting my new camera supported.

If he is taking your $ he should be supporting the program. It is a good tool, but a little dated. I hope that you (and the rest of us) see more updates soon. He used to be VERY responsive not sure if he has just gotten busy with other things, or if something else is keeping him away.

Hi Robert and David,

A camera library update (long overdue) is coming soon--I'm working on it right now. The Coolpix P100 will be in the list!

John -

Thanks so much for letting us know PF will continue! Look forward to seeing the camera library (and hopefully future enhancements) soon!

David
