our final panorama is way different colorwise than the original source pics. they are usually much darker as well, then we have to go back to photoshop and figure out how to restore the original color. how can we get PF to stitch the panoramas and leave the colors alone?

This happens with some panoramas, especially ones with a lot of brightness variation between the original photos and/or original photos that are unusually bright or dark (e.g. night scenes).

This problem and its solution are discussed in the section Controlling automatic exposure correction of the online help's Troubleshooting guide.
