I am using an Olypus c-4000 with the 0.7x wide angle adapter. I am really having trouble getting good alignment. I have had great results without the 0.7x adapter. Any tips for better settings on barrel correction or other tweaks? |

Bart, I have an Oly C4040 with a similar problem. I haven't had good success either with the PF correction. I correct all my images first with a PS plugin, Debarrelizer. This straightens everything out -- using a Photoshop action to process an entire folder in one action. Then using PF with the wide angle adaptor checked and "correct barrel distortion" unchecked. Email me offlist if you have other questions -- sdubose99 at yahoo.com Scott |

We have had good results from the Olympus C-4000 using the Tiffen 0.75x wide angle adapter. The images in the virtual tour example on our web site at http://www.panoramafactory.com/vtour/index.html were made with this combination. You are using a different adapter, the 0.7x. It's possible that the barrel distortion introduced by this adapter is outside the range that can be detected automatically by The Panorama Factory. The automatic detection is limited to barrel distortion values up to about plus-or-minus 5%. This range covers most lenses, but some lenses may have more than 5% distortion. Have you tried the manual procedure described in the web page Adjusting focal length and barrel correction? The correction can be set manually to values up to plus-or-minus 100%. If you cannot achieve satisfactory results with the manual correction, then it may be that the distortion introduced by your wide angle adapter is not simple barrel distortion. Some lenses exhibit distortion that is a combination of barrel and pincushion distortion. For these lenses, you might need to use another application (perhaps Debarrelizer) to correct the distortion.
